After the implementation of the Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme, the demand for ethanol surged dramatically in the latter half of 2023, presenting a challenge for ethanol-producing giants like India Glycols Ltd. and Balrampur Chini Mills Ltd. who found themselves with unfulfilled supply for broken rice, a commonly used raw material for ethanol production.
To bridge this gap, we undertook proactive measures to address the issue. We identified Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) capable of aggregating broken rice from numerous rice mills across regions such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Bihar. Collaborating with these MSMEs, we facilitated a stable buyer network expansion into new geographies, backed by accurate demand forecasts.
Our intervention went beyond mere facilitation; we ensured that these MSMEs received prompt payments and access to trade credit, thereby effectively managing their crucial working capital requirements. This approach not only streamlined the supply chain but also empowered the supplier MSMEs to experience exponential growth in tandem with increasing demand. By providing them with financial solutions and access to broader markets, we catalyzed their growth trajectory.
Ultimately, our efforts led to a more efficient, faster, and transparent supply of raw materials to our buyers. This initiative not only strengthened the ethanol production ecosystem but also fostered economic empowerment among MSMEs, positioning them as key players in meeting the burgeoning demand for ethanol.
